About Contra
Contra came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed and published by Konami. It was one of many action games on the platform, a side scrolling shooter that stood out for its intensity.
You control a soldier, Bill or Lance, running and gunning through jungles and enemy bases. The main goal is to fight through each stage, destroying the alien heart at the end. Your character can shoot in eight directions and pick up power ups that change your weapon, like the rapid fire Spread Gun or the penetrating Laser. The game is known for its fast pace and high difficulty; you have a limited number of lives and mistakes are costly. Finishing a level gives you a real sense of accomplishment.
