World Driver Championship (E) game

World Driver Championship was one of those N64 racers that actually tried to feel like the real deal—not just a kart racer with licensed cars. The physics were surprisingly weighty for the time, so you actually had to brake properly before turns instead of just drifting through everything. First time I played, I spun out like three times before realizing you couldn’t just floor it like in Mario Kart.

The tracks are all over the place—literally. You’ve got tight city circuits, wide-open desert runs, even some rainy courses where the handling goes all slippery. And the cars? They actually feel different. The lightweight ones dart around corners but get bullied on straights, while the heavier beasts plow through but understeer like crazy. Took me a while to settle on a favorite (ended up being the mid-range tuner—decent speed without being uncontrollable).

It’s got that old-school championship grind where you work your way up through slower cars, and the AI doesn’t just let you win. Still holds up if you’re into that era of racing games before everything went full sim. Just don’t expect modern graphics—this is pure late-’90s N64 polygons, complete with foggy draw distance.
