Top Gear GT Championship is one of those GBA racers that nails the arcade feel—no frills, just tight controls and a solid sense of speed. You start off picking from a handful of cars (nothing fancy, but they handle differently enough to matter), then dive straight into races on city streets and winding tracks. The Mode7-style graphics hold up surprisingly well, and the music’s got that classic early 2000s racing game energy.
What I like is how it doesn’t overcomplicate things. No tuning menus or endless upgrades—just pick a car, race, earn cash, and buy something faster. The AI’s aggressive without feeling cheap, and the tracks have enough shortcuts and alternate routes to keep you experimenting. It’s not a sim by any means, but if you miss the days of straightforward arcade racers, this one’s a blast.
Kemco nailed the pick-up-and-play vibe here. You’ll know within a lap or two whether it’s your kind of racer.
