TopGear Rally SP is one of those GBA racers that somehow nails the feel of drifting on dirt roads despite the tiny screen. The physics are surprisingly weighty—you actually have to brake before turns instead of just mashing the accelerator. I remember wiping out a bunch at first because I treated it like Mario Kart.
The Japanese version has a few extra tracks and cars compared to the US release, which is nice if you're into collecting obscure ports. The sprite work holds up too, especially when your car kicks up dust clouds on the African savanna tracks. Just don't expect Gran Turismo-level realism—it's still a Game Boy game at heart.
Fun fact: The "SP" stands for "Special," but nobody ever calls it that. It's just TopGear Rally to most people.
