Top Gear 2 on SNES is one of those racing games that just feels right—no fancy gimmicks, just pure arcade-style speed. The second you hit the gas, that synth soundtrack kicks in, and suddenly you're weaving through traffic like it's 1993 again. The tracks have this weirdly satisfying mix of desert stretches, tight city corners, and night races where your headlights barely cut through the darkness.

What I love is how the handling walks this line between arcade-y and just punishing enough—mess up a turn, and you’ll spin out hard, but nail a drift around a mountain pass, and it’s pure serotonin. And yeah, the graphics are pixelated as hell by today’s standards, but there’s something about the way the scenery blurs past that still gives that sense of speed. Just don’t expect to win your first race; those AI cars play dirty.

If you’ve got a soft spot for 16-bit racers or just want to see where the Top Gear series started, this one’s a time capsule worth booting up. The split-screen multiplayer’s a riot too, if you can convince a friend to put down Mario Kart for five minutes.
