Street Fighter II Special Accelerated Edition on SNES is basically the original game but faster, meaner, and with that classic 16-bit charm. You pick your fighter—Ryu’s fireballs feel just right, but I always end up going back to Chun-Li’s lightning kicks—and jump straight into fights where every punch sounds like it’s hitting a bag of gravel. The speed boost makes combos flow smoother, though good luck pulling off a perfect Dragon Punch when the AI starts reading your inputs.
Playing against a buddy is where it really shines. There’s nothing like watching someone panic when you land a surprise Spinning Bird Kick, or the way the screen shakes during a final-round KO. The colors pop even now, and that announcer yelling "PERFECT!" never gets old. Just don’t expect mercy from the CPU on higher difficulties—this version plays dirty.
If you’ve got a SNES and even a passing interest in fighting games, this one’s still a knockout.
