Pocket Monsters Stadium GS was basically the closest thing we had to seeing our Gold and Silver teams in 3D back in the day. You pick your squad from the Johto roster—I always ended up with Typhlosion and Ampharos somehow—and throw them into these flashy battle arenas where the camera actually swoops around like a proper stadium fight.
The battles feel weightier than the Game Boy versions, with Pokémon actually slamming into each other instead of just flashing sprites. There’s this weird satisfaction in watching Feraligatr’s Hydro Pump blast across the screen in chunky N64 polygons. And yeah, the mini-games are dumb fun—especially the one where Clefairy have to pound mochi before time runs out.
It’s not perfect (good luck finding someone to play multiplayer with these days), but if you ever wanted to see your Gen 2 team throw down in three dimensions, this was the only way to do it back then.
