Need for Speed: Most Wanted on DS is basically the handheld version of that classic street racing chaos—cops chasing you, rivals trying to wreck you, and a whole city that’s basically your illegal racetrack. The graphics are obviously scaled down from the console versions, but it still nails that "pedal to the metal" feel with tight controls and some surprisingly decent car models.
You start off picking a ride (I went with the Eclipse first—solid starter car), and then it’s straight into weaving through traffic while cops try to ram you off the road. The pursuit system’s simplified but still tense—seeing that heat level climb as more cruisers pile in never gets old. Customization’s basic compared to the bigger versions, but tweaking your car’s stats actually matters when you’re dodging roadblocks at 120mph.
Honestly, it’s impressive how much of the console experience they crammed into the DS. Just don’t expect open-world freedom—it’s more mission-based, but the races are fast, the chases are messy, and crashing never stops being satisfying. If you’ve got a DS and a need for speed, this one’s a solid pick.
