Minato No Traysia is one of those weird little Genesis RPGs that slipped under the radar back in the day. You start off in this coastal town with that classic 16-bit vibe—washed-out blues for the ocean, chunky pixel buildings, the works. Within minutes, you're thrown into turn-based battles against floating eyeballs and crab monsters, which sounds ridiculous but somehow works.
The magic system's got this odd charm to it—you collect these elemental orbs to cast spells, and I remember wasting way too much time trying to figure out which combinations did what. Dungeons are maze-like in that old-school way where you'll definitely get lost at least once, but the soundtrack's got these moody synth tracks that make wandering around kinda hypnotic.
It's janky in places (good luck with the translation), but there's something oddly compelling about its rough edges. If you dig obscure 90s JRPGs with personality, this one's worth a look.
