MegaMan Battle Network 5 - Double Team DS is basically two games in one—Team Colonel and Team Protoman—so you get way more bang for your buck. The whole thing plays out like a weird mix of RPG and real-time strategy, where you’re dodging attacks while frantically selecting chips to counter whatever’s coming at you. At first, the combat feels chaotic, but once you get the rhythm, pulling off combos is stupidly satisfying.
What’s cool here is the DS version adds touchscreen controls (handy for quick chip selection) and a tag-team mode where you can swap between two Navis mid-battle. The story’s cheesy in that classic Battle Network way—evil organizations, digital world shenanigans, Lan being overly dramatic—but it’s got charm. And yeah, the multiplayer’s fun if you’ve got a buddy who’s also into yelling “Program Advance!” at random moments.
It’s not perfect—some of the dungeon designs drag—but if you liked the earlier games, this one’s a solid pick. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
