Jurassic Park on SNES is one of those weird, janky gems from the 16-bit era—it doesn’t play like you’d expect, but somehow that’s part of the charm. You start off as Dr. Grant, armed with nothing but a stun gun and a lot of misplaced confidence, sneaking past raptors in first-person lab corridors that feel straight out of a survival horror game. Then suddenly, bam—you’re side-scrolling through jungles, hopping over compys like some kind of dino-infested Mario level.
The graphics? Surprisingly moody for an SNES title, with those deep greens and eerie night scenes. And yeah, the T-Rex still makes your heart skip when it crashes through the trees. The puzzles can be cryptic (why are there so many keycards?), and the controls take some getting used to, but there’s something about the tension of hearing raptor screeches getting closer while you fumble with a keypad that just works. It’s messy, it’s stressful, and it absolutely nails the "oh no, I’m definitely not supposed to be here" vibe of the movie.
If you grew up with this one, the nostalgia hits hard. If not, buckle up—it’s a time capsule of ‘90s game design, for better or worse.
