Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine on N64 is basically the closest you'll get to being Indy without the hat and whip. You start off in some dusty ruins—classic—and within minutes you're dodging traps, climbing ledges, and solving puzzles that make you feel like an actual archaeologist (minus the grad school debt). The controls take a second to get used to—this is an N64 game—but once you adjust, swinging across pits and outrunning boulders feels surprisingly satisfying.
It’s got that old-school adventure vibe where every level throws something new at you, from ancient temples to Soviet bases (because of course there are Soviets). The puzzles can be a little cryptic—I definitely got stuck staring at a wall of hieroglyphs longer than I’d like to admit—but figuring them out feels like a win. And yeah, the graphics are dated, but the atmosphere totally holds up if you’re into that late-’90s charm.
If you ever wanted to yell “That belongs in a museum!” while jumping over spike traps, this is your game.
