Dual Heroes was one of those early N64 fighters that tried to bring arcade-style brawling to 3D before anyone really figured out how to do it right. You've got this roster of weirdos—samurai, cyborgs, a dude who fights with a giant yo-yo—all bouncing around polygonal arenas that feel way too big sometimes.
The controls are stiff compared to something like Tekken, but there's something charming about how janky it all feels. Special moves involve awkward button combos that never quite flow naturally, and the camera occasionally loses track of the action when you back someone into a corner. Still, the announcer yelling "DUAL HEROES!" at the start of every match never gets old.
It's definitely more of a nostalgia trip than a hidden gem, but if you remember renting this from Blockbuster in '97, that blocky aesthetic and crunchy sound design will hit just right. Just don't expect it to hold up against later N64 fighters like Fighter's Destiny.
