About Dragon Spirit: The New Legend
Dragon Spirit: The New Legend came out for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, a Namco release during a time when side-scrolling shooters were common on the platform. It was a conversion of an arcade game, offering a fantasy take on the genre.
You control a blue, twin-headed dragon, flying horizontally and vertically across levels filled with monsters and environmental obstacles. Your main goal is to defeat the evil Zawel by navigating through twelve stages, each ending with a large boss. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups that change your dragon's firepower; you can upgrade from single shots to three-way spreads or lasers. You also collect colored crystals to transform into a more powerful golden dragon temporarily. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty is considerable, with enemy patterns that require quick reflexes.
