GoldenEye on N64 is the game that made first-person shooters feel at home on consoles. You start off sneaking through the Dam level, and right away, the tension is real—silenced PP7 in hand, guards patrolling, and that classic Bond theme kicking in at just the right moments. The controls take a second to get used to (no dual analog sticks here), but once it clicks, popping headshots feels weirdly satisfying.
The campaign nails the movie’s vibe, but the real magic? Four-player splitscreen. Nothing beats crowding around a CRT with friends, picking Oddjob (because everyone knows he’s borderline cheating), and trying not to scream when someone camps the proximity mines in the Facility. It’s janky by today’s standards, but the pure chaos still holds up.
Also, the Klobb is objectively terrible—but you’ll use it anyway because it sounds ridiculous.
