Wolf Child on SNES is one of those weird, cool platformers that never got as much love as it deserved. You play as this kid who can suddenly turn into a werewolf—which sounds ridiculous, but the way they handle the transformation mechanic actually makes it fun. One second you're jumping around as a tiny human, the next you're tearing through enemies with wolf claws.
The levels are classic 16-bit platforming—spikes, bottomless pits, the usual—but switching forms keeps things interesting. Human form is quicker but weak, wolf form hits harder but moves like a tank. Some sections force you to think about which one to use, and I definitely got stuck a few times before realizing I needed to switch mid-jump or something.
Boss fights are where it really shines, though. Big, screen-filling monsters that actually require pattern recognition instead of just button mashing. The music slaps, too—that crunchy SNES synth sound we all miss. It’s not perfect (hit detection can be janky), but if you’re into retro action-platformers, this one’s worth digging up.
