Wizardry Gaiden 3 on Game Boy is one of those RPGs that feels like it was made for late-night dungeon crawls under the blankets. You start by rolling up a party—mage, fighter, thief, the usual suspects—but the real fun begins when you hit those first few floors. The monsters hit hard, and if you’re not careful, you’ll be reloading your save before you even find the first treasure chest.
It’s got that classic Wizardry vibe: grid-based movement, turn-based fights, and just enough cryptic clues to make you scribble notes on scrap paper. The spells are satisfying once you finally get them to work—nothing like watching a Fireball actually connect after missing three times in a row. And yeah, the graphics are pure Game Boy, but there’s something weirdly charming about those chunky little sprites.
If you’ve played the other Gaiden games, you’ll recognize some of the systems, but this one throws in a few twists, like cursed items that seem great until they start draining your HP. Just don’t expect hand-holding—this is the kind of game where you either figure it out or die trying. Still, there’s a real thrill when you finally crack a tough fight or stumble on a hidden passage. It’s a solid pick if you’re into old-school dungeon grinders.
