Wild Guns is one of those SNES games that makes you wonder why more shooters didn’t mix cowboys and robots. You start off picking between Clint (a gunslinger who looks like he stepped out of a spaghetti western) or Annie (who somehow pulls off a sniper rifle and a frilly dress), and then it’s just pure chaos from there.
It’s not your typical run-and-gun—you’re dodging bullets in this weird hybrid of a shooter and a lightgun game, rolling out of the way while trying to line up shots. The first level throws you into a saloon with bandits popping out of windows, and before long, you’re blasting mechanical scorpions in a desert full of laser turrets. The whole thing feels like someone remade The Good, the Bad and the Ugly with a cyberpunk twist.
What really sticks with you is how good it feels to play—the controls are tight, the explosions are ridiculous, and the bosses are the kind that make you yell at the screen when you finally beat them. It’s tough, but in that satisfying way where you know it’s your fault when you die. If you’ve got a SNES and a love for weird, frantic action, this one’s a must-play.
