Ultraman Club 2 is one of those weird, charming NES games that never left Japan—which is a shame, because it’s basically Ultraman meets Mario Party before Mario Party even existed. You pick your favorite Ultraman (I always go with Seven, no regrets) and jump into these mini-games that range from racing to weird target-shooting challenges. The controls are janky in that classic NES way, but it’s got this goofy energy that makes it hard to put down.
Some of the mini-games are total nonsense—like one where you’re just mashing buttons to make Ultraman chop wood?—but that’s part of the fun. The pixel art’s surprisingly detailed for an NES game, too, especially when the Ultras do their signature poses. Just don’t expect a deep single-player experience; this is pure couch multiplayer chaos.
If you’ve got friends who don’t mind wrestling with old-school controls, it’s a blast for short bursts. Otherwise, it’s mostly a curiosity for Ultraman fans or collectors.
