The 7th Saga came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Produce and published by Enix. It was part of that wave of ambitious, sometimes punishing, role playing games that defined the 16 bit era, sitting alongside titles that demanded a lot from players.

You choose one of seven apprentice heroes, like a knight or a robot, and set out to gather seven magical runes before your rivals do. Movement is screen by screen, with random encounters interrupting your travel across the world map and in dungeons. A first person perspective is used for combat, where you select attacks or spells from a menu. The game is known for its difficulty; enemy encounters can be brutal, and the other apprentices hunting for the same runes will challenge you to fights as you progress. It feels like a long, methodical test of your patience and strategy.
