About Tetrisphere
I first played Tetrisphere on the Nintendo 64 back in 1997. It was developed by H2O Entertainment, and it stood out from the other 3D platformers and racing games that dominated the system. Instead of running and jumping, you were presented with a sphere, a puzzle that felt entirely different from anything else on the console at the time.
You control a cursor that moves across the surface of a large, multi-layered sphere. Your main goal is to clear layers by matching and removing groups of three or more identical blocks. The core mechanics involve peeling away the outer layers to reveal the core, and you can also use special power-up blocks that cause chain reactions or clear entire rows. The game starts calmly but the pace quickens as you dig deeper, with the pressure mounting as you try to expose the core before time runs out. It feels like a race against a clock while methodically dismantling a complex structure.
