Man, Tetris DS is still one of the best versions of Tetris out there. The second you boot it up, you get hit with that classic falling-block panic, but with these slick little Nintendo-themed backgrounds—Mario pipes in one mode, Zelda triforces in another. The touch screen actually works surprisingly well for quick rotations when you're in a pinch.
What really makes it shine is the local multiplayer. Passing a single cart between DS systems for 8-player matches was absolute chaos in the best way. And that "Push" mode where you shove garbage lines onto opponents? Brutal. Still holds up if you dust off your old DS.
It's Tetris, but with just enough Nintendo charm to feel fresh without messing with perfection.
