Super Variable Geo on the SNES is one of those weird, niche fighting games that somehow slipped under the radar outside Japan. It’s got that early '90s anime fighter vibe—bright colors, exaggerated special moves, and characters who look like they walked straight out of a manga. The roster’s small but weirdly varied, from schoolgirls with ridiculous kicks to cyborgs throwing energy blasts.
What’s fun is how janky it feels at first—some moves are borderline impossible to pull off without mashing, and the AI loves to cheese you. But once you get the timing down, there’s a weird charm to it. The stages are tiny, the announcer yells everything in Japanese, and the music’s pure synth chaos. Not exactly Street Fighter, but if you’re into obscure fighting games, it’s a neat little time capsule.
