Super Star Wars on SNES is basically the original movie turned into a side-scrolling chaos fest. You start off as Luke blasting stormtroopers in Tatooine’s canyons, and before long you’re jumping over pits, dodging Sand People, and getting wrecked by those annoying little Jawas if you’re not careful.
The vehicle levels are where it gets wild—speeding through the Death Star trenches in an X-wing feels way more intense than it has any right to on a 16-bit system. Some of the platforming is brutal (looking at you, Death Star escape sequence), but nailing a perfect run with the lightsaber feels so good. It’s janky in that classic early ‘90s way, but the pixel art and music absolutely nail the Star Wars vibe.
Just don’t expect it to go easy on you—this game plays for keeps.
