Super Star Wars on SNES is one of those games that looks simple at first—just another 16-bit side-scroller—but man, does it throw you into the deep end fast. One minute you're Luke Skywalker slicing up sandtroopers with your lightsaber, the next you're dodging TIE fighters in an X-wing level that feels way harder than it should (in a good way).
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the Death Star run—those explosions still feel satisfying. And yeah, it's tough as nails in spots (looking at you, Jawa sandcrawler level), but there's something about the way it nails the Star Wars vibe that makes you want to push through. The music? Spot-on. The boss fights? Chewie versus a Rancor is still a highlight.
It’s not perfect—some hitboxes are janky, and the platforming can be brutal—but if you grew up with Star Wars or just love retro challenges, this one’s a blast. Just maybe keep a walkthrough handy for the later levels.
