About Super Star Wars - Return Of The Jedi
Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by LucasArts. It was part of that wave of games that tried to bring the cinematic feel of movies directly into your living room, using the SNES hardware to push colorful, detailed sprites and big boss encounters. This was the third and final chapter in their Super Star Wars trilogy on the system, following the adventures of the first two films.
You take control of different characters from the movie, like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, across a series of side scrolling action levels. Your main goal is to fight through the Empire's forces, from the sands of Tatooine to the depths of the Death Star II, to ultimately defeat the Emperor. The gameplay mixes standard run and gun shooting with specific character abilities; Luke uses his lightsaber to deflect blaster bolts back at enemies, while other stages put you in a speeder bike for a fast paced chase. The game is known for its high difficulty, with relentless enemies and precise platforming required to survive. It feels like a challenging, hands on trip through the key moments of the film.
