Super Star Wars: Jedi no Fukushuu (or Return of the Jedi, if you're not playing the Japanese version) is one of those classic SNES side-scrollers that throws you right into the chaos. You start off as Luke, blasting through Tatooine with that satisfyingly chunky blaster sound, and before long you're hopping between speeder bikes and taking down AT-STs. The pixel art still holds up—especially the way the sand crawler looms in the background like a rusty monster.
It's tough, though. Like, "throw-your-controller" tough in some spots. The platforming can be brutal, and those damn Ewok levels? Cute, but frustrating. Still, nailing the lightsaber combat later on feels so good once you get the timing down. Just don't expect a straight retelling of the movie—this game does its own thing with the story, and the boss fights get wild.
If you grew up with the SNES or just love Star Wars games that don’t hold your hand, this one’s a blast—when you’re not cursing at the screen, anyway.
