About Super Star Wars (japan)
Super Star Wars came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by LucasArts and Sculptured Software. It was one of the early SNES titles that tried to capture the scope of a movie, in this case the original Star Wars film, with a mix of different gameplay styles.
You control Luke Skywalker through side scrolling platforming stages, blasting stormtroopers and avoiding traps. The main goal is to rescue Princess Leia and destroy the Death Star. The game shifts between running and gunning on foot and piloting vehicles in shooter segments, like the Landsperer and the X Wing. You explore areas screen by screen, often facing large numbers of enemies and tricky jumps. It is a difficult game, demanding quick reflexes and pattern memorization to survive. Playing it feels like a challenging, fast paced run through the movie's key action scenes.
