Super Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back (rev A) Game
📅 1993 ✍️ LucasArts, Sculptured Software

Super Empire Strikes Back is one of those SNES games that absolutely nails the Star Wars vibe—even if it kicks your butt a little. You jump right in as Luke, blasting stormtroopers and dodging probe droids on Hoth, and yeah, the Wampa cave is just as tense as you remember from the movie. The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially the AT-AT walkers lumbering in the background.
It’s not just a straight platformer, though. You’ll hop in a snowspeeder for the tow cable sections (timing is everything), and later swap to Han or Leia for different stages. The controls take a minute to get used to—Luke’s jump feels floaty at first—but once it clicks, slicing through Imperial goons with the lightsaber never gets old. Just brace yourself for some classic ’90s difficulty spikes. That final duel with Vader? Brutal.
If you grew up with the movie or just love retro Star Wars games, this one’s a blast—flaws and all. The music alone is worth firing it up.
