Super Dodge Ball Advance is basically what happens when the team behind the classic Kunio-kun dodgeball games makes a spiritual successor without the license. You’ve got that same chaotic energy—wild throws, ridiculous special moves, and matches that somehow feel like a street brawl with a ball involved.
First thing you’ll notice? The characters are all new, but they might as well be cousins of the old crew. Big bruisers, speedy little guys, and everyone in between. The controls are simple—run, jump, throw—but timing a super shot just right feels stupidly satisfying. I spent way too long figuring out which team’s gimmicks worked best for my playstyle (turns out the heavy hitters are fun, but you’ll eat dirt if you can’t dodge).
Matches get ridiculous fast, especially when the ball starts glowing and you realize someone’s about to launch a screen-filling special attack. It’s not the deepest sports sim, but it’s got that arcade-y charm where every round feels like its own little story. If you’ve ever played the NES original, this is basically that but with GBA flair.
