Shin Megami Tensei Devil Children - Shiro no Sho is one of those weird, offbeat GBC RPGs that never made it outside Japan. You play as a kid who gets dragged into this eerie world where you collect and fuse demons—kinda like Pokémon, but with way more occult vibes and moral choices. The battles are turn-based, and your demon team actually levels up with you, which makes grinding feel less pointless.

First thing you’ll notice? The sprites are surprisingly detailed for a Game Boy Color game, and the soundtrack has that classic SMT eerie synth thing going on. The fusion system’s a bit confusing at first—I remember just mashing demons together to see what’d pop out—but once it clicks, it’s weirdly satisfying. Also, no random encounters, which is a blessing.

It’s not as deep as mainline SMT, but if you’re into retro JRPGs with a dark twist, this one’s a neat little time capsule.
