I first played Pokemon Silver Advance Adventure on the Game Boy Color back when it came out. It was one of those games that felt right at home on the handheld, released around the time when the GBC library was full of colorful RPGs and adventures. You control a young Pokemon trainer starting out in the Johto region. Your main goal is to collect eight gym badges, challenge the Pokemon League, and fill your Pokedex by catching wild creatures. The game plays out screen by screen as you explore towns, routes, and caves, engaging in turn based battles with the Pokemon you've trained. Two mechanics stand out: the day and night cycle, which changes which Pokemon appear at different times, and the ability to revisit the Kanto region from the first game after the main story. The pacing is steady, with some challenging trainer battles and dungeons that require careful planning. It feels like a genuine journey of building your team and seeing the world change with the time of day.
