Okay, so Spider-Man on GBC is one of those licensed games that actually gets it right. You start off swinging between these tiny, chunky buildings—the physics are simple but weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down. First mission? Punching some thugs in an alley, obviously. Classic Spidey stuff.

The pixel art holds up surprisingly well—his suit pops against the city backdrop, and the animations for web-slinging have this bouncy charm. Boss fights are where it shines though. Facing off against guys like Venom or Rhino on that little screen feels way more intense than it should, especially when you’re dodging attacks with that stiff-but-fair jump arc.

It’s not perfect (the camera sometimes fights you in tight spaces), but for a Game Boy Color game? Way better than it had any right to be. You can tell the devs actually cared about making it feel like Spider-Man, not just slapping his face on some generic platformer.
