Rolan's Curse on Game Boy is one of those weird little action-RPG hybrids that somehow works. You start off in this moody overworld with chunky pixel sprites, and within minutes you're poking around dungeons, slashing at bats, and figuring out which of the two playable characters suits you better (I always went with the sword guy—the spear felt awkward at first).
The dungeons have that classic "light your torch to see ahead" gimmick, and enemies respawn if you leave the room, which is either annoying or nostalgic depending on your patience level. The music's got that early Game Boy vibe—simple but catchy, especially the dungeon theme. It's not the deepest RPG out there, but there's something satisfying about uncovering secret passages and watching your character slowly get stronger. Just don't expect a sprawling epic—this is pure condensed adventure in that old-school handheld way.
