Rocket Knight Adventures is one of those Genesis games that just feels good to play. You're Sparkster, this little rocket-powered opossum knight (yes, really), and the second you start moving, you realize how slick the controls are—that boost mechanic lets you zip around levels in a way most platformers from that era just didn't allow.

The first level throws you right into it: dodging cannon fire, bouncing off walls with your rocket dash, and slicing up weird pig soldiers with your sword. The music's got that classic Genesis punch, and the sprite work is surprisingly detailed for 1993—Sparkster's little cape even flaps when he jumps.

What I love is how the game keeps mixing things up. One minute you're platforming, the next you're in a side-scrolling shooter section riding missiles. And that final boss fight? Absolute chaos in the best way. It's tough but fair, the kind of game where you'll retry a level just because nailing the movement feels so satisfying.

If you missed this back in the day, it's aged way better than most mascot platformers from the era.
