About Metal Slug 7 (eu)
Metal Slug 7 came out for the Nintendo DS in 2008, developed and published by SNK Playmore. It arrived when the DS was full of unique dual screen games, but this one stuck to the series' classic run and gun roots. It felt like a direct continuation of the older arcade games, just made portable.
You control a soldier from a small squad, running from left to right through levels filled with enemy soldiers and strange vehicles. Your main goal is simply to survive each stage, rescuing POWs for extra points and firepower along the way. The signature mechanics are the variety of Slug vehicles you can jump into, like the heavy Metal Slug tank or the agile Slugnoid mech, and the large selection of powerful weapons you pick up, from the Heavy Machinegun to the Rocket Launcher. The pacing is fast and the difficulty is steep, with screen filling bosses and bullets everywhere. It feels chaotic and demanding, but pulling off a perfect run is incredibly satisfying.
