Mega Man Star Force 3 - Black Ace is one of those DS RPGs that somehow flew under the radar, but man, it’s a blast if you’re into fast-paced battles with a card-game twist. You start off as Geo Stelar, a kid who fuses with an alien wave-being (yeah, it’s weird, but go with it) to become Mega Man. The combat’s this weird mix of real-time action and deck-building—you pick your battle cards before fights, then frantically dodge and counter while your attacks charge up.
What I love is how the Black Ace version gives you this slick, aerial-focused playstyle—dashing around the battlefield feels way smoother than in the other versions. The story’s cheesy in that classic Mega Man way, but the boss fights? Absolute bangers. Some of them will wreck you if you don’t tweak your deck right.
It’s not perfect—the random encounters get old fast—but the sheer variety in cards and transformations keeps the combat from going stale. If you ever played Battle Network and wished it was a little faster, this is your game.
