Mega Turrican is one of those Genesis games that just feels right—tight controls, chunky pixel explosions, and a soundtrack that slaps. You play as this cybernetic badass with a grappling hook (yes, really), blasting through waves of robots and aliens in side-scrolling chaos. The first level throws you right into it—no hand-holding, just run, jump, and spray bullets like it's 1994.
Boss fights are brutal in the best way—huge, screen-filling monstrosities that take actual pattern recognition to beat, not just button mashing. And that grappling hook? Way more fun than it sounds. Swing over pits, yank yourself to platforms, or just whip enemies into walls for the heck of it. The music’s got that classic FM synth vibe, all crunchy basslines and adrenaline-pumping beats.
If you miss when platformers were tough but fair, this one’s a no-brainer. Just don’t blame me when you get stuck on the third boss for an hour.
