MegaMind on the Genesis is one of those weird little gems that never got enough love back in the day. You play as this blue alien genius who’s basically a mix between a superhero and a puzzle master—think less brute force, more outsmarting enemies with gadgets and quick thinking.

The first level throws you right into it: dodging laser grids, timing jumps just right to avoid patrol bots, and figuring out which of your three starting abilities (I always go for the teleport first) works best against each enemy. The sprites have that chunky, colorful Sega charm, and the music’s got that classic synth vibe that somehow makes everything feel more urgent.

It’s not just about reflexes, though. Some rooms force you to stop and actually strategize—like baiting enemies into traps or using your limited energy wisely. Later levels get brutal with maze-like layouts and bosses that punish button-mashing. If you’re into retro games that reward patience as much as skill, this one’s a blast. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
