I first played MegaMan Star Force: Dragon on the Nintendo DS back in 2006, a time when the dual screens and touch input were still fresh. It was developed by Capcom, and it felt like a natural evolution from the Battle Network series, moving the action from a computer world into a wireless wave-based reality. You control Geo Stelar, a boy who fuses with an alien being to become MegaMan. Your main goal is to explore the Wave World and stop a mysterious virus outbreak. The core gameplay splits between navigating the real world screen by screen, talking to people, and then jacking into the wave world for combat. Battles happen on a 3x5 grid; you lock onto enemies and fire your buster, but the real strategy comes from selecting and using Battle Cards for special attacks. You collect hundreds of these cards, building a folder and trying different combinations for tougher fights. The pacing is brisk, with regular boss encounters that require you to learn patterns and counter with the right cards. It feels like a fast-paced puzzle where you are constantly managing your hand and positioning on the grid.
