About Lego Battles (us)
LEGO Battles came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009, developed by Traveller's Tales. It was a fun little strategy game that fit right in your pocket, a nice change of pace from the usual platformers and RPGs on the system at the time.
You control squads of minifigures from different LEGO themes like Castle, Pirates, and Space, building up a base, gathering resources, and training an army. The main goal is to outmaneuver your opponent, either by destroying their base or capturing a special flag on the map. Key mechanics include constructing various buildings to unlock new units and using the touch screen to directly command your troops. The pace is generally brisk, though some missions can get tricky when you're managing multiple fronts at once. It feels satisfying to see your little plastic army swarm across the screen and overwhelm the enemy.
