Kirby Super Stars Ultra is basically a greatest hits collection of classic Kirby games, all polished up for the DS. You get like six different games in one—some are short platforming romps, others have more puzzle-y bits, and there’s even a little arena fighter in there. The controls are stupid simple (it’s Kirby, after all), but some of the later stages actually get pretty sneaky with their level design.
What’s cool is that most of the games let you team up with a second player or even an AI buddy. I spent way too much time messing around with the helper system, turning enemies into allies just to see what weird powers they’d give me. The graphics got a nice glow-up from the original SNES version too—everything’s super bright and poppy on the DS screen.
If you’ve ever played a Kirby game before, you know exactly what you’re getting here: cheerful chaos, ridiculous copy abilities, and that one boss fight that’ll make you throw your DS across the room. It’s a solid little time capsule of pink puffball goodness.
