Kirby: Mass Attack came out for the Nintendo DS in 2011, developed by HAL Laboratory. It was a late release for the system, arriving when the 3DS was already on the market, and it used the touch screen in a way that felt distinct from other Kirby games. You don't control Kirby directly with the D-pad or buttons here.

Instead, you use the stylus to tap and drag the screen, directing a whole group of up to ten pink Kirbies. Your main goal is to gather your scattered friends, who have been split apart by the villain Necrodeus, and then take him down. You tap enemies for your Kirbies to swarm and defeat, you tap fruit to feed your crew and make more of them, and you often need to split the group to solve puzzles, like having some hold down a switch while others cross a gap. The game is broken into small, screen by screen levels, and the pacing is generally relaxed, though managing a large group during a boss fight can get frantic. It feels surprisingly tactile and silly to lead a waddling mob of Kirbies across the screen.
