About Kings Knight
I first played King's Knight on the NES back in 1986, a release from Square that came out during the console's early years. It was a time when many developers were experimenting with different genres, and this was their take on a vertical shooter.
You control one of four knights, each with a unique weapon, navigating upward through stages filled with monsters and environmental hazards. Your main goal is to reach the end of each level while collecting power ups to increase your jump height, speed, and weapon strength. The game requires you to manage your character's level by gathering these items, and you must also find specific elemental letters hidden in the stages to unlock the final level. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is quite unforgiving, demanding precise movement and quick reactions. Playing it feels like a constant scramble to survive while you piece together the requirements to finish the quest.
