Killer Instinct on SNES was one of those games that made you stop and stare when you first saw it in arcades—then again when it hit consoles. The pre-rendered 3D fighters looked ridiculously smooth compared to pixel sprites, even if the animations were a little stiff up close. Jago’s flaming sword, Orchid’s… let’s just say distracting idle animation, all of it felt next-level in ‘94.
Where it really shined was the combo system. Landing a 20-hit Ultra felt like cracking a secret code, and the announcer screaming "ULTRAAAAA" never got old. The SNES version obviously couldn’t match the arcade’s horsepower, but pulling off a C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER with a buddy on the couch? Pure magic. Still holds up if you’re into that old-school, dial-a-combo chaos.
