Jump Super Stars came out for the Nintendo DS in 2005, developed by Ganbarion. It was one of those early DS games that really showed off what the touch screen could do, arriving when the system was still new and full of potential. The game pulls together a huge cast of characters from various Weekly Sh?nen Jump manga series, which was a big deal if you were into those comics.

You control a team of characters on a comic book style grid. The main goal is to build a powerful deck, called a Koma Deck, by collecting character and support panels from defeated enemies. You place these panels on the grid before a battle, and during the fight you can tap them on the touch screen to make your characters jump in and perform their special moves. Combat is fast and chaotic, often involving two to four players on a single screen, and the difficulty comes from managing your deck under pressure while trying to knock your opponents off the stage. It feels like you are physically constructing and directing your own animated brawl.
