Hybrid Heaven is one of those weird N64 gems that never got the love it deserved. You start off as this secret agent dude infiltrating an underground facility, and before long, you're knee-deep in bizarre alien conspiracies and body horror. The combat's this weird mix of real-time movement and turn-based attacks—kinda like if Final Fantasy and Tekken had a baby. At first, I kept button-mashing like an idiot, but once you get the hang of timing your moves, it actually feels pretty satisfying.
What really hooked me was the progression system. You don’t just level up stats—your character physically changes based on how you fight. Focus on kicks? Your legs get beefier. Throw a lot of punches? Suddenly you’ve got arms like tree trunks. It’s janky in that classic N64 way, but there’s nothing else quite like it. Just don’t expect polished graphics—this thing looks like it was rendered in a fever dream.
If you’re into weird, experimental ‘90s games with a cult following, this one’s worth digging up.
