Hoi Hoi : Gameboy Ban Game

Hoi Hoi: Gameboy Ban is one of those games that nails the retro vibe—like someone dug up an actual lost Game Boy cart from 1993. The screen’s that perfect pea-soup green, the controls are stiff in that nostalgic way, and the chiptune soundtrack buzzes just right through tiny speakers. You’re basically hopping between floating platforms, dodging these weird little blob enemies that move in predictable loops (classic).
First time I played, I died like six times on the second level because I kept underestimating the jump physics—turns out you gotta commit hard to every leap. There’s something weirdly satisfying about how simple it is, though. No tutorials, no loot boxes, just pure "figure it out or try again" energy. If you’ve ever wanted to time-warp back to sitting cross-legged on the floor with a Game Boy, this’ll do it.
Also, the power-ups are gloriously pointless in the best way. Why does collecting a floating hamburger give you double jumps? Who cares. It just works.
