Gameboy Wars Turbo is one of those Game Boy gems that somehow makes tiny pixel tanks feel like an epic battlefield. You start off picking your faction—I always went with the green army, no idea why—and then it’s straight into grid-based chaos. The first few turns feel simple enough: move your units, take over factories, maybe snipe an enemy infantry if you’re feeling bold. But then the AI starts flanking you, and suddenly you’re scrambling to hold a bridge with whatever’s left of your artillery.

The sprites are chunky and satisfying, explosions are just a quick flash of pixels, and the music somehow makes every move feel urgent. It’s got that classic "one more turn" pull, especially when you’re down to your last tank and somehow pull off a comeback. Not gonna lie, I’ve lost a few battles just from underestimating how sneaky the AI can be with fog of war turned on.

If you’ve ever wasted hours on Advance Wars, this is like its scrappy little predecessor. Just don’t expect mercy from the later missions.
