Final Blow on the Genesis is one of those old-school boxing games that feels way more tactical than it looks. At first glance, it’s just two pixelated dudes throwing punches, but after a few rounds, you realize there’s a rhythm to it—dodging at the right moment, waiting for an opening, then landing a solid hook. The controls are simple, but timing is everything.
What I like is how the opponents actually feel different. Some rush you down, others play defensive, and the later fights get seriously tough. The sound effects are crunchy in that classic Genesis way—every punch has weight, and the crowd noise ramps up when you’re trading blows. It’s not flashy by today’s standards, but there’s something satisfying about outsmarting the AI instead of just button-mashing.
If you’ve got nostalgia for 16-bit sports games, this one holds up better than most. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you.
